Men's UPF 50+ Surf Lycra | Long & Short Sleeve
Our UPF 50+ anti-UV lycras protect against sun and chafing, with a technical fit and quick-drying fabric, from surfing to longe-côte.
Why a UPF 50+ anti-UV lycra
On the water, UV hits twice: directly, and by reflection off the surface. UPF 50+ certified fabric blocks more than 98% of UVA/UVB and keeps its protection level even when wet, unlike sunscreen which wears off over the course of a session. It's the simplest piece of gear for stringing together hours on the water without burning your shoulders and upper back — and for avoiding chafing from the deck of the board.
Short sleeve or long sleeve?
Short sleeve: summer sessions, maximum mobility while paddling.
Long sleeve: as soon as a session runs over an hour, while travelling, or in wingfoil and kitesurf where the forearms stay exposed. The choice between slim fit and loose fit is mostly down to taste and body shape: slim fit under a harness to limit chafing, loose fit for more comfort — like in stand up paddle, where you rarely fall in the water.
Lycra or neoprene top?
A lycra protects against sun and chafing, not cold. Once the water temperature drops, switch to a shorty or a neoprene wetsuit suited to the temperature.
Rounding out your summer kit
After your session, a surf poncho lets you change and dry off out of the wind. For women, check out our anti-UV lycras & leggings, and the rest of the range in our accessories.
